The work involved does not only concern research and development but extends to all Euro Grass departments. Combining the strengths of strong partners a powerful breeding network has been set up on a large European scale. The structure of the Euro Grass organisation was established in 2002. At that time the shares of the Dutch breeding and production company Zelder B.V. were acquired by Deutsche Saatveredelung AG (DSV), Germany and Hunsballe Fro A/S, Denmark who had already been in close co-operation for almost three decades. By combining the strengths of these partners a powerful breeding network as well as the seed multiplication was set up on a large European scale. Euro Grass stands for efficient structures in breeding, production, sales, logistic and service to meet the customers´requirements for worldwide marketing and supply. Responsibilities Within the Euro Grass platform Euro Grass Breeding GmbH & Co. KG is responsible for all tasks con-cerning research and development. Euro Grass holds 45% of the REGA shares, who is a French grass breeder. Whereas DSV, Hunsballe Frø and Euro Grass B.V. the Netherlands take care of the seed production and the markets in their home countries, the subsidiary Euro Grass B.V. Lippstadt is in charge of the international marketing and sales activities. The organisation Euro Grass aims at becoming a company of the customers’ first choice. Consequently quality reliability and flexibility are the key values of the business. First of all this is shown by the Euro Grass breeding programme which is the basis for increasing the share of high quality varieties – for all major species and for all markets. Customer service For Euro Grass a high standard customer service requires more than product development. It also comprises flexible seed production, encouraged quality management as well as powerful logistics and highly skilled sales staff which are crucial for a companies’ performance. The single departments have to be powerful as independent units. In addition they are a working part of the Euro Grass network. Euro Grass regards this system – both being strong as department and as part of the network as a powerful instrument for the customer.
